About Hermano Tim

Bible Teacher

Hermano Tim:

As you may or may not know, “hermano” means “brother” in Spanish.  I spend a lot of time teaching the gospel with Spanish speaking people.  Before I could even pronounce “hermano”, my Spanish brothers and sisters in Christ brought me into their family.  I am grateful for my spiritual family, and I like to think of myself as everyone’s hermano.

My Background:

I am the son of a preacher man from New Jersey.  I moved many times growing up, and had many experiences in many different churches.  I moved to New York to earn my BA in music production.  While going to school Gardner Hall, a preacher, asked if i could teach the kids class at a Spanish congregation in Upper Manhattan.  I said, “sure”.  I quickly fell in love with my students.  Two years later I decided to spend all my time teaching them the Bible.

My Classes:

I teach a Junior High class three times a week at the Iglesia de Cristo on Sherman Ave (I teach the kids in English).  I also have personal Bible studies with my kids throughout the week.  I spend Mondays with four Junior High age brothers in the Bronx.  Tues-Thurs I study with different kids that all live in the same building in Harlem.  Saturdays I teach a class on parables to a group of kids in Fairlawn, NJ.  Every other week I teach a High School age class at a Church in Washington, NJ.

I’ve also started Bible class with adults.  I am teaching an Old Testament survey on Wednesdays with a new Christian.  Fridays I study the book of Romans with another new Christian.  Friday nights I teach an adult class (welcome to all) in my apartment.

My Beliefs:

  1. Jesus Christ is the Messiah that fulfills the Old Testament prophecies (Acts 2:22-36).

  2. His death and sacrifice saves us from our sins through baptism        (Heb 9:28, Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38).

  3. Since He is our saviour, He is our authority (Mat 28:18-20).

  4. The Bible is our authority the reveals how we may please Him with our lives and worship (John 14:23-26).

  5. The Bible is the inspired word of God revealed to the Apostles by the Holy Spirit (II Tim 3:16, II Pet 1:20-21).

  6. Once we’ve become a Christian, we have a life of obedience and moral transformation ahead (Mat 5:48, Col 4:20-32).

  7. The most important commandment is to love God and each other (Mark 12:28-31).

  8. God loves everyone (Jn 3:16).
