About the donations: Recently, a very enthusiastic encouraging Christian, Christopher McCracken, was inspired by the evangelistic work going on here and wanted to help.  He contacted me and suggested I use PayPal to receive donations.  At first I was hesitant.  I don’t want to receive any more funds than is needed, but he insisted that there are many Christians looking to use their material blessings in good ways.  He has a great point.  So here’s what we came up with: I will be receiving donations to be used for aiding the evangelistic efforts in the area; not my personal expenses.

Why donate?  1.) Donate if you want to help the evangelistic efforts here.  2.) Donate to please God with your loving sacrifice.  If you consider yourself to be financially blessed and want to share those blessings, this is an opportunity to do so.  We have many great uses for financial help.  If you decide to donate, know that your money will be put to good use.

Why donations?  You might be wondering why I am receiving outside donations.  Shouldn’t I or other Christians in the area bear our own financial burdens?  That is a very fair question.  The work here is very different.  Working with so many kids that come from non-Christian and often times nonfunctional homes places great responsibility on Roger, Gardner, Emily, myself, and others.  We find ourselves filling the lack of strong paternal figures.  This means we fill a monetary gap as well.  Many kids have parents either unable or unwilling to pay some of these expenses.  Thus far, we’ve all been sharing the load (and will happily continue to do so), but outside aid will help us accomplish even more.

What your donations will NOT be used for: The donations will not go into my pocket.  I will not use them for grocery money or rent.  I will also not use these donations for my regular business expenses such as gas and tolls.  Those expenses are already covered by my faithful supporters.  Using the donations for that would be superfluous and for nothing more than lining my wallet.  That is not my intention.  However, I will reserve the right to use donations for atypical personal business expenses.  Certain unexpected expensive business expenses will come up.  I might use the donations for assistance if needed.

No church money please:

Because some of these expenses will be used for secular things, I request that no donations come from any church treasury.  Although every use will have a spiritual purpose, not all of the expenses are scripturally authorized responsibilities of the church.  I believe that it would be inappropriate to receive and use church money in this fashion.

Last thoughts:

I would also like to add that it’s not all about the money.  The purpose will never be to raise money for God.  We can please the Lord by spreading the gospel with very limited funds.  This is just one more good opportunity to share the other Christians.

If you wish to donate, but do not wish to use PayPal, you can mail cash or check to: 612 W 137th St. Apt. 65 NY, NY 10031 and specify that it is a donation.

Adopt a camper: If you are familiar with Florida College camps, you know that they are designed to be very spiritually encouraging environments.  I stress the importance of New Jersey Camp.  It is a life changing experience for many young people (including myself).  The greatest purpose for camp is creating a spiritual environment to help young people find God.  A significant percentage of the campers are non-Christian city kids.  Camp is their first truly spiritual experience.  It has led to the salvation of many (Carlos, Gary, Bill, Kelvin, Dorca, Priscila, Carol, etc...).  New Jersey Camp is 90% spiritually focused and one of the most vital parts of the evangelistic efforts here; however, many of the campers have very limited funds.  Gardner Hall (camp director) is always in need of donations for camp.  Some of this money will be used to help more kids get to camp.  Donate here, or click this link to adopt a camper directly from the New Jersey Camp website.  The “adopt a camper” link is on the left sidebar.

Random expenses: Some various ways in which I intend to use the donations are: purchasing Bibles for personal and classroom use, Bible study books for our more mature students, gas and toll for spiritually purposed trips (such as the Isaiah study in Indiana), food money for lunch breaks during “All Day Bible Studies”, etc...  There are many random but important ways to use the donations.
